Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla wants to get a pet wolf, and of course he has a good reason image

Joe Mazzulla isn't your average NBA head coach.

He's got some interesting takes, and he gets a chance to share them often in his high-profile role leading the Boston Celtics.

His latest? He wants a pet wolf.

Here's why:

"We obviously have a dog, but I'm trying to convince (my wife) to get a wolf that just kind of roams the area of our house, as kind of an extra layer of protection," Mazzulla said, via NBC Sports Boston.

Mazzulla is aware of threats around him.

In the past, he said this:

"How can I win every single situation or environment? Like, how can I win the environment no matter where I am at any particular time? What are the threats, the strengths, and the opportunities? "And can you look at every single situation as a life-or-death situation from the standpoint of like, this person's a threat, this situation's --- like, I won't walk through revolving doors because if one of them gets stuck then you're just a sitting duck."

Even the introspective Steve Kerr isn't going to hit you with that kind of insight.

Mazzulla's quirks aren't a big deal, and besides, as long as Boston is winning, he's going to look good.

He'll have to keep us all posted on the pet wolf thing, though. We'll need all the details if that one comes to pass.
