Trae Young’s stint with the Atlanta Hawks is officially over.

According to a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Hawks have agreed to trade their four-time All-Star point guard to the Washington Wizards for a former Portland Trail Blazers star.

“BREAKING: The Atlanta Hawks are trading four-time NBA All-Star Trae Young to the Washington Wizards for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert,” Charania wrote on X/Twitter.

“The trade ends Young’s stint as the face of the Hawks and sends the 27-year-old to his preferred destination in the nation’s capital. Top Wizards officials Michael Winger and Will Dawkins have searched to anchor their young talent in the next step of the team's development.”

The Hawks’ decision to send Young to the Wizards is unsurprising for a couple of reasons. For starters, Young and the Hawks’ partnership has been stale for quite some time, prompting speculation about the former lottery pick’s future with the franchise.

Additionally, after it was reported that the Hawks were shopping Young around on the trade market before the Feb. 5 deadline, the Washington Wizards were listed as the Oklahoma product’s preferred landing spot.

Ultimately, both teams got their ultimate wish: Young will have an opportunity to start fresh in Washington, while the Hawks can finally hand the keys to Jalen Johnson. Atlanta will also be in good shape moving forward, with McCollum as its veteran, experienced leader.
