Kyle Larson has suffered two weekend penalties before the NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway even begins.

Because it took three attempts for crew chief Cliff Daniels to get their Hendrick Motorsports No. 5 Chevrolet through technical inspection, the team has lost their pit stall selection for the race and also loses car chief Jesse Saunders for the event.

They avoided the worst case scenario however as a third failure would have resulted in Larson needing to complete a pass-through pit road penalty at the start of the race. Now, Larson will be able to take full advantage of his 11th place starting position.
