PFL champion involved in wild, scary incident image

Reigning PFL featherweight champion Timur Khizriev was involved in a scary incident in Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia recently. According to multiple reports, Khizriev was shot five times with rubber bullets.

Khizriev is in stable condition but underwent several injuries to his shoulder, hand and chest. He had to undergo surgery. The fighter was rushed by two men in a courtyard of a building as he was getting out of a vehicle.

Police were able to apprehend one suspect, but two others escaped. Witnesses reported that the assailant shouted at Khizriev's family as they left the scene of the crime.

PFL released a statement, posting "PFL is aware of the situation concerning Timur Khizriev, and remain in close touch with his representatives. Our thoughts are with him and his family during this time."

Khizriev, a 29-year-old, is 18-0 in his career. He has also fought for Bellator MMA, winning the 2024 title with a victory over Brendan Loughnane.
