Even a series with the Colorado Rockies wasn't a solution for the Washington Nationals' miseries.

After Wednesday night, the Nats have lost 11 games in a row.

It's their worst losing streak since 2008, when the Nationals lost 12 in a row.

In franchise history, there's only been one longer than a dozen games (which the Montreal Expos did in 1976, as well).

The 1969 Montreal Expos lost 20 consecutive games.

Ouch.

That was the first season of the expansion Expos, and it didn't go well.

These Nationals aren't supposed to be like that. They've got immense young talent, including rising superstar James Wood and lefty ace MacKenzie Gore.

Baseball is a fluky game to begin with. Even bad teams win games (see: the Rockies). But the Nats aren't even supposed to be that bad.

At this point, though, they need a bit of luck to help them out, for someone to break out of a slump, for something good to happen out of the blue.

Because the Nationals don't want to join the Expos on any infamous lists. And they're very close to doing so.
