Mickey Gasper does a bit of everything on the baseball field.

He catches, and plays the infield, and plays the outfield. He also hits from both sides of the plate. He even has a great mustache.

And now he's the newest member of the Washington Nationals.

The Nats claimed Gasper off waivers from the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, according to Andrew Golden of The Washington Post.

Gasper is 30 years old and has appeared in 58 MLB games, split between the Boston Red Sox and the Twins.

In that time, he's just a.133 hitter at the MLB level.

Gasper retains some intrigue, though, because of what he has done in his minor league career.

In 2025 at Triple-A St. Paul, Gasper had a.915 OPS.

His career minor league OPS is.850 with 94 doubles and 58 homers in 454 games.

At Triple-A, Gasper's career OPS is even better,.918, the best he's had at any level.

Players don't always translate their abilities from Triple-A to the major leagues. They call those guys 4-A players, too good for Triple-A but not good enough for MLB.

But Gasper also hasn't gotten a ton of chances. Maybe moving to the Nationals will give him the opportunity to prove he belongs at the major league level.
