The Toronto Blue Jays were just one win away from a World Series title, and will have a chance to bolster the roster for another deep playoff run in 2026.

While Bo Bichette could walk, the Blue Jays could turn to the top free agent on the market as a massive outfield upgrade.

For ESPN's Jeff Passan, if there was one "perfect" move the Blue Jays could make this offseason, it would be to sign Kyle Tucker to a big contract, finally landing a superstar free agent after failed pursuits the last couple of offseasons.

Blue Jays 'perfect' offseason move lands Kyle Tucker in big-money deal

"After trying in free agency for Shohei Ohtani, Juan Soto and Yoshinobu Yamamoto with no luck in recent years," Passan writes, "this is precisely the time for the Blue Jays to make the biggest move of the winter by giving Vladimir Guerrero Jr. His left-handed complement. Sign free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker."

Bringing in Tucker won't come cheap, as the former Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs outfielder is seeking a deal around $400 million total.

But, especially if Bichette winds up walking this offseason, signing Tucker to a massive contract would be a great move for the Blue Jays.

Tucker is coming off another solid year, though a mid-season injury limited his production in the second half. But when he's fully healthy, there aren't many outfielders who are as good as he is.

In 2025, Tucker earned his fourth-straight All-Star nod and finished with a.266 batting average and an.841 OPS with 133 hits, 25 doubles, 22 home runs, and 4.6 bWAR.

The Blue Jays could finally land one of the big-ticket free agent options after years of coming up short. Tucker would be a big boost to the Toronto outfield and the offense. For a team trying to make it back to the World Series, Tucker would be a perfect move to do so.
