For the Toronto Blue Jays, if they want Bo Bichette back, there are a few different ways to look at it.

Despite weeks of speculation linking Bichette to the New York Yankees, that doesn’t appear to be as realistic as some have made it out to be.

According to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, Bichette isn’t a priority for New York. Instead, the Yankees want Cody Bellinger back.

“If Bellinger is their number one priority, I do not think that they would be getting both Bellinger and Bichette,” Kirschner said. “It would be likely that Bichette would be a backup option if Bellinger goes elsewhere — which I am not expecting.”

“I do think that eventually the Yankees and Bellinger will agree to a new deal. But I’ve heard that the Yankees’ interest in Bichette is really not even that solidified. Yes, they’ve checked in — the one thing I will say about checking in on free agents is, it is the job of the general manager to check in on everybody that’s out there.”

Losing Bichette wouldn’t be ideal, but losing him to the Yankees would be far from what the Blue Jays want.

However, Kirschner’s reporting suggests that it isn’t on the table, especially with Bellinger remaining the Yankees’ top focus.

With the Yankees seemingly headed toward a reunion with Bellinger, one of Toronto’s worst outcomes of the winter seems to be fading.

It doesn’t mean anything can’t happen, but it doesn’t seem to be likely as of now.
