The Toronto Blue Jays clinched the American League East on Sunday and secured the number one seed in the AL. They now await the winner of the Yankees-Red Sox wild card series to determine who their division series opponent will be.

Toronto has been without star shortstop Bo Bichette since Sep. 7, as he's been dealing with a sprained knee, and the team is hopeful he can return to the field this weekend when the ALDS starts.

Bo Bichette 'Hopeful' for ALDS return

Recently, Bo Bichette spoke with MLB.com reporters about his injury status and progress towards getting back on the field:

"I will do everything I can in the next four or five days to see what we can do."

"I'm feeling better," said Bichette. "Everyday, I'm feeling better. I don't have a date, but I will do everything I possibly can to get back."

Blue Jays' manager John Schneider also chimed in and said he was hopeful that Bichette would take the right measures to return to the field, and noted that he's a long-time Blue Jay and is instrumental to the team's success.

It is a contract year for Bichette, and he's surely made himself some money heading towards the Winter months.

In 139 games this season, Bichette's average was .311 with an OPS+ of 129 and 63 hits that went for extra bases.
