The Toronto Blue Jays continue to be linked to infield help this offseason, and one name that has surfaced is free-agent third baseman Yoan Moncada.

Francys Romero reported that multiple teams have shown early interest in Moncada, with the Blue Jays among the clubs monitoring the market. Toronto joins the Angels, Pirates, and White Sox as teams that have at least checked in on the veteran infielder as free agency gets underway.

“Several teams, including the Angels, Pirates, White Sox, and Blue Jays, have shown early interest in free-agent third baseman Yoan Moncada, per sources,” he posted on X.

Moncada is coming off a 2025 season in which he dealt with both thumb and knee issues, but still managed to turn in a solid year when he was on the field. While injuries have limited his availability in recent seasons, his overall production last year suggests there is still upside if he can stay healthy for a full campaign.

“Despite thumb and knee issues, Moncada had a solid 2025 and could contribute even more next season among third basemen.”

The infield remains an area that could be upgraded, especially if the front office is looking for a short-term solution with bounce-back potential. Moncada brings switch-hitting ability, defensive experience at the hot corner, and a track record of being decent.

He isn’t great by any means, but there are worse options out there.
