Blue Jays given bleak odds to sign both Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette image

After narrowly losing this year's World Series, the Toronto Blue Jays could be one of the more aggressive clubs during the Major League Baseball offseason.

Reports from around the league suggest the Blue Jays are in the race for outfielder Kyle Tucker, who visited Toronto's player development complex in Dunedin, Florida, on Wednesday.

Shortstop Bo Bichette, alongside Tucker, is one of the winter's premier names on the free agent market. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand does not feel strongly about the AL East team landing both All-Stars.

"I would say Bichette is the more likely candidate to sign with the Jays, as there is less competition for his services than for Tucker, who is on the radar of a number of big-market clubs," Feinsand wrote Wednesday, responding to a fan's submitted question.

"Still, I wouldn't rule out Tucker at all. Could they sign both? Toronto certainly has enough money to do it if that's what ownership wants to do, though that would be a pretty big commitment, especially after signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr. To his huge extension last year," the MLB insider added. "One way or another, there's at least one more big move coming for the defending AL champs."

The Blue Jays have already been active

So far this offseason, the Blue Jays have already signed two starting pitchers to free agent contracts.

Dylan Cease inked a seven-year, $210 million deal with Toronto last week, and the 2025 Korea Baseball Organization MVP, right-hander Cody Ponce, signed for $30 million across three years.

The Athletic's Tim Britton projected that Tucker, 28, will sign a 12-year, $460 million contract this offseason.

Tucker managed to produce a 4.6 bWAR this past season with the Chicago Cubs, even while dealing with a hairline fracture in his right hand. Adding the two-time Silver Slugger to a lineup that features Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Would be a scary sight for opposing pitchers.
