Blue Jays' fans have epic response to troll Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani in Game 1 of World Series image

Los Angeles Dodgers' two-way star Shohei Ohtani hit the open market in 2023 and ended up signing a record-breaking 10-year, $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

However, the rising star visited Toronto in December of 2023, and the Blue Jays sent Ohtani home with some memorabilia, including a Blue Jays jersey for his dog.

But that wasn't enough to get Ohtani to sign with Toronto, and instead he's taken his spectacular skills to Los Angeles. Well, Blue Jays' fans reminded Ohtani of that in the ninth inning of Game 1 of the World Series on Friday night as his Dodgers trailed 11-4.

Blue Jays' fans troll Ohtani

Ohtani came to the plate in the ninth inning of Game 1 of the 2025 World Series with two outs and the Dodgers trailing 11-4, and the home crowd let him hear it.

"We don't need you," Blue Jays' fans chanted.

Ohtani's trip to Toronto in 2023 was brought up earlier this week when Blue Jays' manager John Schneider jokingly asked for Ohtani to return the gear the Blue Jays gave him when he visited during his free agency trip.

When Ohtani was asked about Schneider's request and wear the gear was, Ohtani said the gear was in his garage. It was as silly, harmless little exchange during the week leading up to the World Series between the Blue Jays and Dodgers.

However, once the Blue Jays broke Game 1 open with a nine-run sixth inning, the Toronto fans felt comfortable enough to troll Ohtani in the ninth inning for picking the Dodgers over the Blue Jays.

This matchup is just the latest of a wide difference in payroll between the Dodgers and their opponents throughout this postseason.

The Blue Jays starter in Game 1 was Trey Yesavage, who is making $57,000 this season, and Ohtani is making $47 million this year.

The Blue Jays' fans had their fun on Friday night, but Ohtani still had a two-run home run in the game. It came with the Dodgers down 11-2, so it didn't mean much on Friday night.

However, Toronto fans might want to be careful how much they poke the bear, knowing what Ohtani is capable of.

Game 2 of the World Series is on Saturday night in Toronto, and the Blue Jays will look to take a 2-0 series lead.
