The Toronto Blue Jays are red-hot and have a four-game lead over the New York Yankees in the American League East. At 60-42, they are tied with the Houston Astros for the best record in the Junior Circuit.
However, as the trade deadline nears, the Blue Jays have some needs to address with a week to spare. They could use bullpen help, but also a little more power.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s power numbers have dipped a little in 2025, so it will be important for them to find somebody who can add some more pop.
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report outlined every contending team's deadline blueprint. He proposed the idea of Toronto stealing Eugenio Suarez before the New York Yankees can get to him.
"Eugenio Suarez has hit more than twice as many home runs (36) as Toronto's leader (George Springer at 17) and would be the slugging source that the Blue Jays have been lacking," Miller wrote. "Almost just as importantly, though, acquiring Suárez keeps the Yankees from doing so."

The Blue Jays got off to a slow start before picking things up at the end of May. Now, they've passed the Yankees and have a commanding lead in the division.
Toronto has already won the season series with New York, but it would be another dagger to the Yankees if they were to steal Suarez from the Arizona Diamondbacks and boosting their lineup for a potential run.
Suarez is hitting .252/.325/.593 with 36 home runs, 86 RBI, a 3.5 WAR and a .918 OPS. He is a free agent at the end of the year and might command a strong package of prospects.
Arizona is likely to sell after being swept by Houston this week. Toronto could take advantage of that by landing one of the top sluggers on the market.
We'll see if the Blue Jays give Arizona a call about Suarez.
