The Toronto Blue Jays are one of the teams most insiders expect to have a very aggressive offseason. After making the World Series but coming up one game short, the Blue Jays are likely to have a busy winter.
Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette are strongly linked to Toronto, but after a new report from MLB insider Jon Morosi, the Blue Jays could look to replace Bichette by way of a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The player Morosi linked to the Blue Jays, alongside the Philadelphia Phillies, is $105 million switch-hitting second baseman Ketel Marte.
Blue Jays linked to Ketel Marte as Bo Bichette replacement
"I think it's at least a 50-50 chance he could be moved," Morosi reports. "The Diamondbacks are actively listening to Ketel Marte. Among the teams that have checked in, the Phillies and Blue Jays. Those teams are not on Marte's no-trade clause list."

Marte having such a high likelihood of being traded, and the Blue Jays being named as one of the teams involved, is a good sign for their chances of acquiring the three-time All-Star.
While he's a second baseman, the Blue Jays can shift around their infield to make his spot work. His addition could mean Bichette walks, but it could still leave open the door for a player like Tucker to come to Toronto.
He's on a $105 million contract through 2030 and would be very affordable for the Blue Jays. Aside from the years of control and a reasonable contract, Marte is also an incredible player.

He hit.283 in 2025 with an.893 OPS with 28 home runs and 4.4 bWAR on the season. Marte also earned his second-straight all-Star nod, and at 32 years old, is one of the better second basemen in Major League Baseball.
While he's had just two years of postseason experience, he's shown he's a very clutch hitter. During the Diamondbacks' 2023 World Series run, Marte hit.329 with a.914 OPS in 17 games.
Marte would be an incredible pickup for the Blue Jays if they could make it work, which is feasible thanks to Marte's lack of a no-trade clause for the Blue Jays. It won't be cheap, but a trade for Marte could be the exact kind of blockbuster deal Toronto is looking to make this winter.
