Looking to shore up their starting rotation, the Texas Rangers did just that. They agreed on a trade with the Washington Nationals, sending RHP MacKenzie Gore to Texas in exchange for Texas's No. 5 prospect Gavin Fien, No. 11 prospect Alejandro Rosario, No. 12 prospect Devin Fitzgerald, No. 17 prospect Yeremy Cabrera, and No. 24 prospect Abimelec Ortiz.

As you can see, that is quite the haul for just one pitcher. However, Gore is under team control through the 2027 season. And for a team that is strapped for cash, that is quite a deal.

The Rangers now have a formidable starting rotation. It will be led by Jacob deGrom, followed by Nathan Eovaldi, Gore, Jack Leiter, and Kumar Rocker.

Two urgent moves for the Rangers following the MacKenzie Gore trade

With the addition of Gore, this lineup is starting to take shape. However, they still could make another move or two with a month left until Spring Training begins.

Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer believes the club could use a right-handed bench option, and the front office needs to think about locking Wyatt Langford down.

"With Jon Heyman of the New York Post having tied Texas to Miguel Andujar, it would seem that a right-handed hitter is next in line. An extension for Langford is an idea the Rangers need to start taking seriously. He was one of [the] few bright spots on the 2025 roster, and he's surely the future of the team with Corey Seager creeping deeper into his 30s."

Texas is in a much better spot than some of the other teams around the league, but they are one or two moves from being complete. Watch out for a possible Miguel Andujar signing here soon, and don't be surprised if extension talks start happening with Langford as he continues to excel.
