Hot stove season is almost here, and the MLB rumors are pouring in from all angles. The 2026 season calendar is about to start shortly following the World Series, and that means MLB organizations and front offices will be allowed to make player transactions, whether it be via signing free agents or making trades.
In a recent 'Wild' trade predictions piece, the Texas Rangers are involved in a way Rangers fans may not appreciate.

Rangers trade idea helps trim 2026 salary
Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller recently came out with a 'Wild' trade idea article, and one of the deals included the Texas Rangers trading away Jacob deGrom to the Los Angeles Angels:
"The Trade: Texas Rangers send RHP Jacob deGrom to Los Angeles Angels for RHP Ryan Johnson"
"If the Rangers are serious about trying to trim payroll this offseason, why not go straight to the top of the list?"
There's no doubt this would be a wild deal. After battling injuries for the last few seasons, deGrom was named an All-Star for the first time since 2021 this season and posted a 2.97 ERA in 172.1 innings. That's the most innings deGrom has thrown in a season in six years.
However, deGrom did sign a five-year, $185 million deal a few years back that still includes two more years of financial control by Texas.
The five-time All-Star and 2X Cy Young award winner deGrom also has a no-trade clause, which he could exercise at any moment.

BR's Kelly believes some owners across MLB may be willing to take on the rest of deGrom's contract:
"One of those owners is almost certainly the Angels' Arte Moreno, saddled with 10 consecutive losing seasons while the Dodgers have been a runaway freight train just down the road, winning titles with his former unicorn."
While unlikely, Jacob deGrom may be a name to keep a watch for as trade rumors start to strengthen over the next month.
