The Texas Rangers have already signed one catcher this offseason in the form of Danny Jansen.
They look set to add another, Jose Herrera.
Herrera's signing has been reported by Daniel Alvarez-Montes on Monday. It's a minor-league contract with an invite to MLB spring training.
A 28-year old, this is Herrera's first time with a new organization. He signed as an international free agent with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2013 and had been in their system ever since.
Herrera has appeared in the major leagues in each of the past four seasons, totaling 562 plate appearances and batting.200 in that time.
Herrera is a switch-hitter.

Behind the plate, "outlets like Baseball Prospectus and Statcast have credited him as being solid in terms of blocking and controlling the running game, but his framing has been subpar," according to MLB Trade Rumors.
The Rangers appear to be set at the big league level to start the season with Jansen and Kyle Higashioka at catcher.
But after non-tendering Jonah Heim, Herrera can make a case as the organization's third catcher heading into the 2026 season, which would make him one injury away from the MLB roster.
