The Chicago Cubs entered the top of the eighth inning with a 5-3 lead over the St. Louis Cardinals. A crowd of more than 40,000 enjoyed the warm sunshine, stacking beer cups, tossing home run balls back onto the field, and heckling the opposition. They were ready to celebrate another Cubs win.
Then Brad Keller came into the game, and the Cardinals erupted for five runs in the eighth to take control. After Alec Burleson cut the lead to 5-4 with a solo home run, Nolan Gorman tied the game with an RBI single.

Keller took the loss, his first of the season. Steven Matz earned the win for St. Louis and improved to 5-2 on the year.
The Cubs' loss came despite another strong performance from Michael Busch. After collecting four hits on Friday, he added three more on Saturday and finished a triple shy of the cycle.
St. Louis pounded out 13 hits, with Alec Burleson picking up three of them, along with Thomas Saggese and Norlan Gorman grabbing two of them. Matthew Liberatore went five strong innings, allowing just four hits and two runs.
With the win, St. Louis improved to 48-42 on the season. Chicago dropped to 53-36. The series finale will be played on Sunday Night Baseball.
