The St. Louis Cardinals have made a few different signings already this week.

One of them has quite the unfortunate name for a pitcher.

The new guy: Scott Blewett.

The Cardinals announced the signing on Monday.

Blewett will be in major league spring training as a non-roster invitee.

He's a 30-year old coming off his best season at the MLB level, having thrown in 44.1 innings pitched, a career high.

Blewett played for the Twins, Braves and Orioles and combined for a 5.48 ERA in 26 outings.

He had a solid 12.7% whiff rate but only an 18% strikeout rate.

Blewett threw his slider about half the time.

He's originally from Syracuse, New York, where he attended Baldwinsville High School.

The Royals took him out of high school in the second round of the 2014 MLB Draft.

Blewett made his MLB debut for the Royals in 2020. He pitched for Kansas City again in 2021, then didn't get back to the bigs until 2024 with the Twins.

In his career at the MLB level, he has a 4.21 ERA. He has struck out 61 batters in 72.2 innings.

Now, he'll try to make the Cardinals.
