Cardinals' John Mozeliak shares emotional message to fans amid upcoming departure image

The St. Louis Cardinals have been one of the more successful teams since the turn of the century. From their multiple World Series titles to the illustrious careers of Hall of Famers like Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina (and potentially Adam Wainwright), it's been a wildly successful 25 years since 2000.

A huge component of the Cardinals' success in this time has been general manager and current president of baseball operations, John Mozeliak. He's been with the Cardinals since 2007 and has helped construct some incredible rosters over the years.

But after the 2025 season, he's stepping down, and Chaim Bloom is taking over. In an article from Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Mozeliak shared an emotional message with Cardinals fans ahead of his upcoming departure this offseason.

John Mozeliak steps down, shares emotional, heartfelt message with Cardinals fans

"St. Louis is just a storied franchise, with so much passion, and such a beautiful baseball city. It has such a generational fanbase." Mozeliak said. "They really do appreciate baseball, but they also demand winning. It's hard to do it year in and year out. But the consistency of sustained success, we achieved that. I really hope that when people look back at my time here, they appreciate that."

The Cardinals have been one of the most successful teams in baseball since 2007, when Mozeliak joined the team as general manager. He has helped construct the 2011 World Series roster and contributed to the Cardinals' sustained success over the last 18 seasons.

Since Mozeliak joined the Cardinals in 2007, he's helped the team go on to the postseason 10 times. They have also won six NL Central titles since he joined the front office in St. Louis.

Mozeliak pointed out the sustained success of the Cardinals during his tenure, and the team's 15 consecutive winning seasons since 2008 point to such success.

The Cardinals have been one of the top teams in baseball, third to only the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees in wins, since 2008 during Mozeliak's tenure.

While this season has been a letdown, the Cardinals' success since he's been in charge of the front office has been remarkable. Plenty of teams don't have the same success that Mozeliak has had with St. Louis, and he's helped make the Cardinals one of the better teams in baseball over the last two decades.

Mozeliak is stepping down from the Cardinals' leadership role and is hopeful that St. Louis fans can look back on his tenure positively.

His time in St. Louis has been a successful one, and his departure is the end of an era. Bloom is taking over and will look to continue Mozeliak's legacy of consistency, as the Cardinals usher in a new era of baseball in St. Louis.
