The Seattle Mariners have been involved in some big-name free agent discussions.
But sometimes the best signings are the smallest ones, like one the Mariners made on Thursday.
They've agreed to a deal with Brennen Davis, according to MLB writer Aram Leighton.
Davis used to be one of the top prospects in baseball.
For four consecutive seasons (pre-2020 through pre-2023), Davis was a top-100 prospect for Baseball America. Leading into the 2022 season, he was ranked No. 16 in the entire sport.
Davis was originally a second-round pick in the 2018 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs out of an Arizona high school.

He never made it to the majors despite seven years working his way up the Cubs' system, though.
For 2025, Davis joined the Yankees' organization. He played 36 games at Triple-A, and he had a.900 OPS with 12 home runs in those 36 games.
Davis had to deal with some injuries, which is why he didn't play more.
The Mariners will have to hope Davis is at full health, but if he is, it's an intriguing pickup. He always had a lot of tools and could just never put it all together long enough to ascend to the major leagues.
Maybe he'll make it happen in Seattle.
