While the Seattle Mariners are currently fighting in the postseason, it is not too early to think about the future. They are at risk of losing some key contributors in free agency.
Eugenio Suarez, Caleb Ferguson, Donovan Solano, and Josh Naylor will all be free agents when the season comes to a close. Jorge Polanco and Mitch Garver are also at risk, as they both have a mutual option for 2026.
The biggest player on this list is certainly Naylor, who hit .299/.341/.490 with nine home runs and 33 runs batted in across 54 games with Seattle. However, there are some options the team can turn to if he signs elsewhere this winter.
Mariners named potential suitor to land big-name slugger in free agency
Fansided's Robert Murray recently came out with his list of top free agents and where they could fit best. Here, he views the Mariners as being a potential landing spot for former NL MVP Cody Bellinger.
Bellinger could help ease the sting of losing Josh Naylor if he signs elsewhere this winter. While he was used primarily as an outfielder for the New York Yankees, he is more than capable of handling first base duties.
However, the Mariners are not the only strong fit for Bellinger. Murray points out that the Yankees will still be at play here, and there is no denying he succeeded in the Bronx. Fans loved him there this season, and as a left-handed hitter, Yankee Stadium plays to his strengths.
