Mitch Garver didn't hit a single triple from 2020 through 2024.
But the Seattle Mariners' DH got a fortunate bounce off the centerfield wall on Monday night and sprinted his way to a headfirst slide into third base.
With that triple, Garver put himself in a quirky place in Mariners playoff history.
Sometimes, stats are just funny. This is one of those.
Garver is now tied for the most postseason triples by any Mariners player, according to MLB.com's Josh Kirshenbaum.
That's right: No Seattle player has hit multiple triples in the playoffs.

The others to hit exactly one, tied with Garver, are Julio Rodriguez, Mark McLemore, Vince Coleman and Al Martin.
That's quite the club.
Garver did have a regular season triple this year, his first since 2019. He definitely wouldn't have been a guy you'd have predicted to hit one in a big playoff game, though.
It was just one piece of an incredible night for the Mariners, who bludgeoned the Toronto Blue Jays to take a 2-0 series lead in the ALCS, with the series now heading to Seattle to resume on Wednesday.
It's a safe bet that Garver won't hit another triple. But there's one easy way for someone else to be tied for a Mariners franchise record (or for Julio to set one of his own, since he's already got a triple).
