Whether or not Dominic Canzone succeeded in stealing the show from Cal Raleigh on the night Raleigh broke Mickey Mantle's switch-hitting home run record is up for interpretation.

But Canzone certainly tried his best in a historic night of his own for the Seattle Mariners.

In a win over the Kansas City Royals, Canzone went 5-for-5. He homered three times. He drove in four runs.

It's the first time a Seattle player has had five hits, four RBI and three homers in the same game since 1987, according to StatMuse.

Canzone, 28, is having the season of his life.

He made his MLB debut in 2023 and batted .220 while splitting the season between the Diamondbacks and Mariners.

With Seattle last season, Canzone batted .196 and hit eight homers in 67 games.

But now this season, Canzone has 10 home runs in 72 games with a much-improved .304 average and an .854 OPS that is about 200 points higher than either of the prior two years.

It's the kind of season that seems to align with a special season for a ballclub in general.

The Mariners knew who they could count on heading into the year. But when someone like Canzone puts together a career year, it lifts an already solid team to even greater heights.

That's what's happening for Seattle, which has won 10 straight games.

If Canzone keeps it up, there's no reason the Mariners can't keep rolling.
