One of the Seattle Mariners' 2023 MLB Draft picks has already retired.
The news emerged Sunday that Carson Jones has hung up his cleats.
Jones was a 15th round pick in that 2023 draft out of Virginia Tech.
He was originally from Glen Allen, Virginia, where he played his high school ball at Deep Run HS.
Jones is a 6-foot-2 outfielder.

In his draft year, he played just 12 games in Rookie ball.
In 2024, he played 103 games for Single-A Modesto. He won a California League championship there, and he batted.251 with 13 home runs and 37 stolen bases.
In 2025, Jones moved up to High-A Everett. He won the Northwest League title there.

With Everett, Jones regressed to a.160 average with six home runs and 17 steals (100%) in 64 games.
It seems like Jones could've kept grinding, but he has chosen to move onto the next stage of his life at just 25 years old.
The Mariners will surely wish him the best of luck in whatever comes next.
