The Seattle Mariners and Josh Naylor feel like a match.
Time will tell if free agency allows that contract to get done and bring the first baseman back to the Pacific Northwest.
There's an encouraging perspective this weekend, though.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand put out an article in which he speculates on one player who will re-sign with each team across the league.
Feinsand's choice for the Mariners is Naylor.
He doesn't go on to provide much insight on the signing, rather just rehashing what Naylor did in 2025:
"One of the Mariners’ key Trade Deadline acquisitions, Naylor thrived in Seattle, hitting nine home runs with 33 RBIs, 19 stolen bases and an.831 OPS in 54 games. He was also one of the Mariners’ key contributors during their run to the ALCS, hitting three homers with a.966 OPS in 12 postseason games."

No one expected the Naylor steals, but the rest of the package was a lot of what he showed in Cleveland and then for his short stint in Arizona.
The Mariners have to figure things out not just with Naylor but also with Eugenio Suarez and Jorge Polanco.
Naylor is the key to the Seattle offseason, though, and this is a good sign in the right direction for the chances of Naylor sticking with the Mariners.
