Despite being established in 1977, making it 26 teams in MLB alongside the Toronto Blue Jays, the Seattle Mariners have had some of baseball's biggest stars over the years.

Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, Ichiro Suzuki, Felix Hernandez and Cal Raleigh are just some of the superstars to compete for Seattle. 

The Mariners have won four division titles and made two additional playoff appearances, even tied for the most single-season victories in MLB regular season history. But, as Seattle makes a run in the 2025 postseason, has the team ever won a World Series?

Have the Mariners won a World Series?

No, the Seattle Mariners have never won a World Series. In fact, they are the lone MLB team of 30 to never even reach a World Series, never having made that deep of a postseason run in their 50-plus years of existence.

While Seattle has won four division titles and made two wild-card appearances, it has yet to book a trip to the Fall Classic. Despite that drought, the Mariners have had some fairly notable seasons over the years.

MLB teams to never win World Series

The Mariners are one of five MLB teams to never win a World Series:

• Milwaukee Brewers (established in 1969, one appearance)
• San Diego Padres (established in 1969, two appearances)
• Seattle Mariners (established in 1977, no appearances)
• Colorado Rockies (established in 1993, one appearance)
• Tampa Bay Rays (established in 1998, two appearances)

Of the five ringless teams in modern MLB history, the oldest is the Milwaukee Brewers, established in 1969. On the other hand, the Tampa Bay Rays are the youngest of the bunch, and they have made two unsuccessful trips to the World Series.

However, 29 of the 30 MLB clubs have at least reached a World Series. The Mariners are the final squad who has yet to cross that accomplishment off its list.

Last time Mariners played in World Series

The Mariners have never played in the World Series. With their 2025 trip to the ALCS, they have reached the championship series on four occasions: 1995, 2000, 2001 and 2005.

Seattle's best previous shot at winning a title likely came in 2001, when it tied the MLB record for single-season wins in the regular season with 116. Despite going up in history with the 1906 Chicago Cubs, winning the AL West, having eight All-Stars that summer and beating Cleveland in the ALDS, the Mariners fell 4-1 to the New York Yankees in the ALCS.
