The San Francisco Giants are looking to turn the page this upcoming season. After hovering around.500 for the last four seasons, they are coming into the 2026 season with a new manager, Tony Vitello.
Vitello does not have any experience at the MLB level, but he is considered one of the best college coaches in the country. He helped the University of Tennessee win the 2024 College World Series.
Vitello will have his work cut out for him. Playing in a division with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, they need all the help they can get.
Giants urged to consider trading away their top prospect this winter
The Giants come into the offseason needing to acquire a frontline starter to pair with Logan Webb and Robbie Ray. They could also use another outfielder.
They could fill these holes in the open market, or they could acquire someone via a trade. They have the farm system to do so, and Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter believes Bryce Eldridge, the team's top prospect, is someone to watch.
"If the Giants intend on using Rafael Devers as the primary first baseman going forward, they might be inclined to flip Eldridge now rather than locking him into the DH role. The outfield is a clear need, and while they won't simply trade him to trade him, flipping him for the upgrade in the grass or a controllable young arm could jump-start their push back toward contention."
Eldridge being available could entice many teams who are looking for help at first base.
San Francisco could hit up the Chicago White Sox to see what it would take to send Luis Robert Jr. Their way. Or, the Giants could get into talks with the Minnesota Twins to see what the package would be to acquire Byron Buxton.
