Earlier this week, the MLB had its draft lottery system. This system determined who will be selecting one through six in the upcoming draft.
The San Francisco Giants came into the lottery with just a 1.01% chance to win the illustrious first pick, but with those low odds, the pick went to the Chicago White Sox, who had a 27.73% to grab that No. 1 spot.
Instead of the top spot, the Giants will find themselves drafting fourth overall. There will certainly be some eye-popping talent to take in that spot, but the question is who?
Giants projected to take Georgia Tech OF in early 2026 mock draft
Being so early, these names could trend up or down over the next few months. However, with the teams now positioned, we can begin to assess which MLB prospects might be the best fit for each team.
According to Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter, he believes Georgia Tech outfielder Drew Burress would be a great fit in San Francisco.
"After hitting.357/.490/.756 with 44 home runs and 129 RBI in 118 games during his first two seasons at Georgia Tech, Burress could be the first college outfielder off the board."
Professional scouts liked him back when he was a high schooler, but he told them he would only accept if he were taken in the first round. If not, he was headed to Georgia Tech and stayed true to his word.
He has a quick right-handed swing with plus power to all sides of the field. He also has the speed to steal an occasional base and reach those tough-to-reach balls in the gaps of the outfield.
Many believe he can handle center field at the big league level, but if not, he could project as a right fielder with the arm he has on him.
