The San Francisco Giants have a lot of questions to answer during the offseason, and one of them will be putting another ace-caliber arm next to Logan Webb.

Webb has been one of the better starters in the National League over the past few years and was just as good as ever a season ago, posting a 3.22 ERA.

However, outside of Webb, the Giants could still use some help on the mound, and that's where someone like Framber Valdez could come into play.

Valdez is a free agent this winter, and the left-hander is typically one of the better starters in baseball.

His 2025 campaign wasn't bad by any means, but he posted the highest ERA he has had since 2019 with a 3.66. If there's one thing to be said about Valdez, it's also that he's able to stay on the mound, pitching in at least 31 games in three of the past four years.

When predicting potential Landing spots for the ace, Curt Bishop of Sports Illustrated recently suggested the Giants could be in play.

“A top-of-the-rotation starter to go with Logan Webb would also give them a major boost and could allow them to at least contend for an NL Wild Card spot in 2026. Taking down the two-time defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers is going to be a tall order, but with the right moves, San Francisco could at least put themselves in position to challenge Los Angeles in the NL West.

“The Giants haven’t had much success since they last reached the postseason in 2021, but Buster Posey has proven to be aggressive, and landing a top arm like Valdez will show that the Giants are all in for 2026,” he wrote.

After making Tony Vitello their next head coach, it seems evident that the Giants are looking to get their organization back to where it used to be.

Adding Valdez would be a nice step in accomplishing that.
