The San Francisco Giants had an immensely disappointing 2025 season.
That was true even if you don't account for the Rafael Devers trade. But when you add that in, the fact that the Giants finished below.500 is brutal.
They've been involved in a lot of free agent discussions as they try to improve their team, but they've yet to make a splash.
Maybe one is coming after Christmas, though.
MLB.com's Andrew Simon wrote this week that the "perfect match" for the Giants in free agency would be Bo Bichette.
The former Blue Jays shortstop would play second base for the Giants.
"The Giants have won between 79-81 games in each of the past four seasons and have just one season with a win percentage over.500 (and one with a playoff berth) since 2017," Simon writes. "It’s a team very much in need of star-level talent, even after the recent acquisitions of third baseman Matt Chapman, shortstop Willy Adames and first baseman Rafael Devers. Tucker or one of the market’s top starting pitchers would also make sense here, but Bichette would fill a potential weak spot at second -- where they project near the bottom of the league -- and round out a star-studded (if expensive) infield. His contact-oriented, line-drive approach could also be a good fit at Oracle Park, an extremely tough venue for home runs but one that’s favorable for other types of hits."

There's plenty of speculation that Bichette will just return to the Blue Jays in the end.
But if he wants to go elsewhere, the Giants likely could give him a sizable contract and a great lineup to hit in.
It'd be a long move across the country from Toronto, for however that might factor in.
But it's not a link that has been made much. It's interesting to see that the Giants may be involved here.
