The San Diego Padres are still in line to make the postseason, but as a Wild Card team. Entering Friday, a chance at earning the NL West title is still a possibility.

With just nine games remaining in the regular season, the Padres trail the Los Angeles Dodgers by three games in the division. To shake up the playoff picture, San Diego will need to string together some wins.

Before the series opener against the Chicago White Sox, news released on the return date for shortstop Xander Bogaerts.

Padres' Xander Bogaerts set to return on Monday

It was announced that San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts is set to return on Monday for their series against the Milwaukee Brewers, according to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Bogaerts, 32, has been dealing with a fracture in his left foot. He sustained the injury after hitting a foul ball off the foot during a game on Aug. 27. The Padres placed the $280 million shortstop on the injured list shortly after.

He's been working his way back from the injury, and after about three weeks of rehab, Bogaerts will rejoin the team just in time for San Diego's hopeful postseason push.

Through 131 games in 2025, Bogaerts has a .262 batting average, .330 on-base percentage, .387 slugging percentage, and a .717 OPS while hitting 10 home runs and 49 RBI.
