The San Diego Padres have added some versatile infield depth to their organization.
Pablo Reyes is the newest Padres player, and his name might sound familiar given he signed with both the Yankees and the Mets in the last year.
Reyes' deal is a minor-league contract with the Padres that should include an invite to major league spring training, according to Matt Eddy of Baseball America.
He's a 32-year old who has played in parts of seven MLB seasons.
Reyes is a career.245 hitter across 259 games. He hits lefties to the tune of a.272 clip.
At the MLB level, Reyes has appeared in the field at first base, second base, shortstop, third base, left field, centerfield, right field and for five innings on the mound.

Reyes made the Yankees' 2025 Opening Day roster. He batted.194 for the Yanks.
The Yankees DFA'd him in June, and he signed a minor league deal with the Mets.
The Mets never called Reyes up to the majors. Down at Triple-A Syracuse, he played incredibly well, putting up a.289 batting average with a.484 slugging percentage.
The Padres have strong starters but maybe not clear and obvious reserves with versatility. Reyes gives them one of those. He'll likely have a real chance to make the team, especially with his ability to hit left-handed pitching while clearly being able to play all over the diamond.
