The San Diego Padres are in the thick of the NL Wild Card race at the MLB All-Star break with a 52-44 record at the halfway point of the season.
With the MLB trade deadline fast approaching, the Padres are looking to make a move to put them in a position to have a strong second half of the season and clinch a spot in the postseason.
One player that the Padres are interested in acquiring at the deadline is Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran. The Red Sox are on a hot streak as of recently. They have won 10 straight games, and are only three games back of first place in the AL East with a 53-45 record.
The Red Sox's recent hot streak has caused many to believe that the team will go all in and be buyers at the trade deadline. That hasn’t stopped the Padres, though, from being interested in trading for Duran.
Duran has recorded eight home runs and 58 RBIs this season for the Red Sox with a batting average of .258. Trading for Duran would put San Diego in a great position to clinch a spot in the postseason and compete for their first World Series title, an expectation among many Padres fans.
The Padres could offer a deal for Duran that could benefit the Red Sox in return. The Red Sox need bullpen help, and the Padres could provide that if they believe it's worth the risk to go all in to win the World Series this season.
