The San Diego Padres are coming off a solid season where they found themselves in the Wild Card. Unfortunately, they would be bested by the Chicago Cubs, ending their season.

So far this offseason, San Diego has lost some key pieces. Robert Suarez signed a deal with the Atlanta Braves, Dylan Cease signed a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, while Luis Arraez still sits on the open market.

Fortunately, the club was able to re-sign Michael King, but without Yu Darvish next season, the club could still use another frontline starter.

Outside of the Michael King signing, San Diego has been relatively quiet. They have not made too many moves to help fill the holes they need to.

However, they did strike a few deals with some pitchers. Daison Acosta and Ty Adcock were brought in to help bolster the bullpen, and Triston McKenzie was signed to a minor league deal.

CBS Sports' Dayn Perry and Mike Axisa are not too impressed with what San Diego has done so far. They give the club a "C-" for their effort this winter.

"Reuniting with Michael King was sorely needed, but the loss of Dylan Cease to the Blue Jays renders the rotation quite thin. There's little starting pitching depth in the system and the back end looks like a real trouble spot heading into 2026."

The moves San Diego has made so far do not put them in a better position for the 2026 season. But there is still some time left before pitchers and catchers report in a few weeks.

Do not be surprised if the Padres move in on another frontline starting pitcher, a high-leverage arm in the bullpen, and some left-handed help at first base.
