With the Los Angeles Dodgers defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series on Saturday night, Major League Baseball has officially entered the offseason. On Sunday, Rawlings announced its annual Gold Glove Award winners, honoring the league’s top defensive players from both the American and National Leagues.

For the San Diego Padres, right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. Added more hardware to his growing résumé, winning his second career Gold Glove Award. Tatis Jr. Edged out finalists Sal Frelick of the Milwaukee Brewers and Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks to claim the National League honor.

After missing out on the award in 2024, Tatis Jr. Has now captured Gold Gloves in two of the last three seasons (2023 and 2025). His defensive excellence has helped redefine his reputation since his full-time move to the outfield.

This season, Tatis Jr. Recorded a Fielding Run Value (FRV) of nine, ranking 26th across all positions and third among right fielders. He also posted eight Outs Above Average (OAA), finishing among the top defensive outfielders in the National League.

Tatis Jr. Becomes the second Padres outfielder in the last five years to win multiple Gold Gloves, joining Trent Grisham, who won the award as a center fielder in 2020 and 2022. Prior to this recent surge, San Diego had not produced a Gold Glove winner in the outfield since Mike Cameron in 2006.

With both star power and elite defense, Tatis Jr. Continues to anchor the Padres’ future as one of baseball’s most complete players heading into 2026.
