The San Diego Padres' hill to climb to reach the Los Angeles Dodgers for the National League West crown just got a little bit steeper, as the team lost All-Star reliever Jason Adam for the 2025 season Monday night against the Baltimore Orioles.

Adam suffered a ruptured tendon in his left quadriceps, effectively putting an end to his season in the seventh inning of Monday's game.

And in his postgame message, he gave props to president of baseball operations A.J. Preller for a blockbuster move he made during the MLB trade deadline.

Adam Was 'Really Glad' the Padres Got Mason Miller at the Deadline

The Padres won the sweepstakes for flamethrowing righty Mason Miller at the deadline, and the All-Star reliever couldn't have been more thankful for the deal.

“I told A.J. I’m really glad you went out and got Mason (Miller),” Adam said.“This bullpen is so deep. of all the bullpens in the league to not need me, it’s this one. So, I’m excited to cheer those guys on.”

Adam said he expected to be out for six to nine months, which will likely see him miss the beginning of the 2026 season.

Adam ends his 2025 campaign with an 8-4 record, a 1.93 ERA, and 70 strikeouts.

With the Padres only this season, Miller has appeared in 12 contests, snagging one save with a 1.50 ERA and 22 strikeouts.
