Manny Machado is coming off another impressive season at the plate. Nobody did more for the San Diego Padres offensively than he did, being the team leader in home runs, runs batted in, doubles, and slugging percentage.

He was a big reason for the club's success this year. However, things ended sourly after their season ended in the Wild Card, losing to the Chicago Cubs

Putting that behind them, they now look forward to next season under new leadership. The club recently announced it hired Craig Stammen to be its newest manager, and some cannot be more excited about the outcome.

On Friday, Silver Slugger Award winners were announced. For the third time in his career, Manny Machado has won the Silver Slugger for his contributions at the plate.

"Machado has now won back-to-back Silver Slugger Awards at third base and three since 2020. He's the first Padres player since Tony Gwynn to win at least three Silver Sluggers."

All-time great Tony Gwynn was the only Padres player to win the award at least three times. Now, he shares that status with Machado, and with the way Machado has been playing the last two seasons, a fourth one is surely within reach. However, it may be hard for him to catch Gwynn's seven.

Machado is the only San Diego slugger to win the award this season. Jake Cronenworth was named a finalist as a utility player, but he was edged out by Alec Burleson of the St. Louis Cardinals, who won the award for the first time in his career.
