Silver Slugger awards were announced Thursday night, and after another productive year, San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado added more hardware to his résumé. Machado claimed the National League’s Silver Slugger at third base, edging fellow finalists Matt Chapman, Austin Riley and Max Muncy.

The award marks Machado’s third career Silver Slugger and his second in as many seasons. He previously won in 2020 and again in 2024, continuing a late-career stretch of sustained offensive excellence. Now 33, Machado remains one of baseball’s most consistent middle-of-the-order forces.

He earned the honor with a well-rounded offensive season, finishing with a.275 batting average, 27 home runs, 95 RBIs and 60 extra-base hits. He was also selected to another All-Star Game, further solidifying his standing as one of the league’s top third basemen.

Machado’s latest Silver Slugger places him third in Padres franchise history for most wins, trailing only catcher Benito Santiago, who won four, and Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, who collected seven across his iconic 20-year career. Machado also breaks his tie with teammate Fernando Tatis Jr., who remains at two career Silver Sluggers and was not a finalist this season.

While Machado has stacked awards throughout his career—including multiple Gold Gloves and a Platinum Glove—one major accolade has eluded him: Most Valuable Player. He has twice finished in the top three of NL MVP voting, placing third in 2020 and second in 2022.

On the team side, Machado continues to chase his first World Series title. His lone appearance came in 2018 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, who ultimately lost to the Boston Red Sox. As Machado enters the latter half of his career, both the Padres and their star third baseman remain focused on pursuing that elusive championship.
