The Philadelphia Phillies have already clinched their spot in the MLB postseason, winning the NL East division by a comfortable margin over the New York Mets.
Kyle Schwarber is nearing Ryan Howard's team record home runs, and the championship potential in the team is oozing out at this point.
But don't think that that means they're taking their foot off the gas in the regular season just yet.
Phillies Dominate Marlins in Every Way Possible
On Wednesday night, during their 11-1 win over their divisional opponent Miami Marlins, the Phillies made history by becoming MLB's first team to hit eight home runs in a game while have their starting pitcher record a double-digit strikeout game without allowing any walks.
Starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo pitched a masterful seven innings against his former team, striking out 10 with no walks and only allowing the lone earned run, with the win giving the Phillies enough leverage to earn a first-round bye, inserting them directly into the National League Divisional Series.
The Phillies clinched the division back on September 15, and the fact that they're still pushing this hard at this point in the season shows just how badly they are wanting to bring Philly back a World Series championship, the city's first since 2008.
