One of the biggest names to watch this offseason is Kyle Tucker. Tucker is coming off another monstrous year, playing at a high level aside from a mid-summer slump. There’s some potential that he could return to play for the Chicago Cubs, but he didn’t exactly hype up that possibility after the season concluded.

“We'll see what happens. Don't know what the future is going to hold. If not, it's been an honor playing with all these guys and wish everyone best of luck whether it’s playing next year or not with them,” Tucker said.

The harsh reality is that the Cubs likely won’t be able to pay him the way he wants. He also doesn’t seem to share the same level of excitement the Cubs had when they first acquired him in a trade over the summer.

“We're excited that we were able to get it across the finish line,” Cubs general manager Carter Hawkins said. “We're thrilled. He's been an offensive machine over the last several years, and we're excited to be able to insert that into our lineup. That's a bat that fits into any lineup in the league.”

Many expect Tucker to get a blank check from the Dodgers, but another potential landing spot is another powerhouse: the Philadelphia Phillies.

“Kyle Tucker's first season with the Chicago Cubs was an obvious success, even if its second half was an injury-riddled grind. Despite the slowdown, he still produced a solid stat line—22 homers, 25 steals and a .266/.377/.464 slash line—and helped the club snap a four-year playoff drought,” Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley wrote. “Our crystal ball sees the Philadelphia Phillies making an aggressive splash signing to extend their championship window. Prediction: Tucker signs a 10-year, $400 million deal with the Phillies.”

Tucker joining the Phillies would be dangerous for the rest of the league—especially for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who currently control the NL. Tucker is going to get a massive payday wherever he signs, but the Phillies would add another consistent and dangerous bat to their lineup.
