As both the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs are officially in the offseason, it's time for both respective front offices to decide on what major moves they will make in the coming months.
For the Cubs, they are anticipating losing star slugger Kyle Tucker to free agency, and the Phillies are also anticipating losing some key contributors, as some of their top names are set to hit the open market as well.
Is there a world where the Philadelphia Phillies make one of the biggest splashes in free agency and land Kyle Tucker?
What are the Phillies' chances of acquiring Kyle Tucker?
According to Bleacher Report, the Phillies are seen as a top landing spot for star free agent Kyle Tucker.
The Phillies' projected outfield does not consist of much star power, with Nick Castellanos' future uncertain, and role players like Brandon Marsh and Johan Rojas. That is not an outfield that will scare many opposing pitchers.
BR writer Joel Reuter believes Tucker would be a great fit for the Phillies roster:
"However, if Schwarber gets away, or they decide to open up the payroll even further, Tucker would be a great fit on a veteran roster built to contend right now."
The Phillies' outfield seems like a carousel of a bunch of different guys, and while they could sign Harrison Bader as a free agent, that still wouldn't exactly move the needle.
It would cost alot for the president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski, but it might be a move he has to make if he wants to keep the Phillies' World Series window open.
