The Philadelphia Phillies' season is officially over after a brutal 2-1 loss to the Dodgers in the NLDS. However, now the offseason is upon the Phillies, and there are some huge decisions the team's front office will make to make.
The biggest one involves Kyle Schwarber, whose contract is up and is now set to become a free agent. Schwarber has become beloved in Philly, and it would be painful for fans to see him go.
Kyle Schwarber linked to Detroit Tigers in free agency
In a recent Bleacher Report piece that ranks the top suitors for Kyle Schwarber, the Detroit Tigers are on the list of teams.
Detroit's current DH is Colt Keith, but signing Schwarber would be a huge upgrade for a club that struggled mightily in the second half in terms of slugging and OPS.
Here is what writer Joel Reuter had to say about this idea:
"That makes Schwarber the ideal target, as he would give the club another impact run producer while also slotting perfectly into the leadoff spot in the batting order where his .365 on-base percentage would be a major upgrade."
"The Tigers used 10 different players at designated hitter and 10 different leadoff hitters in 2025."
Schwarber hit 56 home runs this season, drove in 132 runs, and got on base at a .365 clip.
His sweepstakes will be one of the biggest storylines to follow during this year's MLB offseason.
