The Philadelphia Phillies didn’t get what they were hoping for from Max Kepler last season, which really wasn’t too surprising. He was a low-risk outfield addition who never really clicked, and his struggles made it easier for the Phillies to look elsewhere this winter.
He also wasn’t too happy with how things went in Philadelphia.
The Phillies needed someone to come in and provide decent at-bats, but the platoon stuff just doesn’t work as well as they want it to.
For Kepler, his time in Philadelphia will be short-lived.
That’s where the Chicago White Sox could make sense as a landing spot.
According to Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report, Chicago is a place Kepler could look to revive his career.
“The White Sox have quietly assembled a promising young lineup, bolstered by the recent addition of Japanese League star Munetaka Murakami, though there is still a glaring hole in right field. Mike Tauchman (66), Joshua Palacios (28), Michael A. Taylor (26) and Austin Slater (15) combined for 135 starts at the position in 2025, but they are all no longer with the organization,” Reuter wrote.
Kepler might welcome a change in scenery as big as this, as he’d have a chance to regain his value for one of the worst teams in baseball.
