The Philadelphia Phillies attempted to get cute during the offseason, and more often than not, that doesn't go as teams expect it to. Attempting to replace Carlos Estevez and Jeff Hoffman, the Phillies signed Jordan Romano.
For moments throughout Romano's career, he's been an excellent closer, but to say things haven't worked out in Philadelphia would be taking it lightly.
Romano has been one of the worst relievers in baseball and it's tough to ignore at this point.
Will Jordan Romano Pitch in the Postseason?
Because of his struggles, some believe the Phillies could look to move on from him before the postseason, including Edward Eng of FanSided, who noted that he's on “thin ice” in September.
“Finally, we have one of the Phillies’ supposedly prized offseason additions in former All-Star closer Jordan Romano. Expected to be the successor to the departed Carlos Estévez for the closing duties, Romano has turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments this season...
“They needed Romano to help take them to the next level in winning a World Series championship. Perhaps his current injury is a blessing in disguise as it will give the 32-year-old reliever a chance to reset and refocus on his game during his recovery. However, his leash is likely short if and when he makes his return later in the month. He'll need to do all he can to prove that he is still worthy of a spot in the postseason,” Eng wrote.

Depending on what the Phillies do with their rotation, it's possible that Romano might not be in their plans. He’s currently on the IL.
It’ll likely come down to which starters head into the rotation, as that’s something that's expected to happen over the next few weeks.
