The Pittsburgh Pirates haven't had the best start to their 2025 campaign, as they sit 14 games behind the Chicago Cubs, who are in first place in the NL Central. The Pirates have been trending upwards recently, having won their last four games due to a hot offense.

The Pirates just won their fourth game in a row on Monday evening, 7-0 over the St. Louis Cardinals. This victory made history in Pittsburgh. The Bucs had not won four consecutive games by seven or more runs in 100 years.

The Pirates have also cut their season-long run differential in half as it moves from -70 to -35.

The Pirates swept the struggling New York Mets this past weekend with some significant help from their bats. The Pirates won all three games, 9-1,9-2, and 12-1 were the final scores in Pittsburgh.

Veteran Andrew McCutchen has been outstanding for the Pirates in his 17th MLB season. The 38-year-old from Fort Meade, Florida, doesn't play the field much these days, but he makes sure to contribute on the offensive end. Cutch currently has the highest batting average on the team at .267 with eight home runs and 31 RBIs.

In the Pirates' latest win over the Cardinals, 34-year-old lefty Andrew Heaney took a no-hitter to the sixth inning. Heaney waited out a 71-minute rain delay and got the job done. He threw 6.2 innings, allowed 3, struck out seven, and allowed only one walk.

The Pirates will play two more matchups against their divisional foe, the Cardinals.

Fire-throwing right-hander Paul Skenes, who is looking to grab his first win since May, will take the bump tonight against a 26-year-old in Andre Pallante.
