One group of 10-to-12-year-olds' lives are about to change in seven days.

In between checking backpacks, pencils and folders off their back-to-school list, there is softball to be played. The 2023 Little League Softball World Series is upon us, where the prize is not only bragging rights, but also some coveted air time that will live on for years to come.

Stallings Stadium at Elm Street Park in Greenville, N.C., is once again the site for 12 teams — eight from the U.S. and four international squads — vying for a chance to put their names in the history books.

The next generation of softball players is set to take the field and round out the summer in style (before homework takes over the list of nightly priorities). Now we are all left to watch and wonder, are we better than a fifth grader?
