The NL Wild Card Series kicks off Tuesday night with the Dodgers hosting the Reds at Dodger Stadium, with first pitch slated for 9:08 p.m. ET.
Los Angeles closed its regular-season slate on a high note, cruising past the Seattle Mariners 6-1 on Sunday. Cincinnati, meanwhile, enters the postseason on the back of a defeat, falling 5-1 to the Milwaukee Brewers in their finale
The Dodgers once again played the role of baseball’s heavyweight giant, boasting a massive payroll and 93 regular-season wins, yet somehow still leaving fans wanting more.
The Reds, on the other hand, had a season that ebbed and flowed like the tide. It took grit, clutch performances late on, and a bit of fortune courtesy of the Mets, but they’ve finally clawed their way back into October. It marks their first postseason berth since 2020 — and their first full-length playoff run in over a decade, dating back to 2013.
On paper, this is the ultimate "David vs. Goliath" showdown. The Dodgers sit at the top of the spending charts, while the Reds operate in the lower third. Los Angeles will understandably enter as overwhelming favorites, but with the Reds' starting rotation capable of throwing punches of its own, don't be surprised if they make this a scrap worth watching.
