The New York Yankees have a long offseason ahead of them with several key decisions to be made about key players.
New York has a handful of key contributors who are set to hit the open market once the free agency period opens.
One of those names is Trent Grisham, who the Yankees signed to a one-year deal before the season, and was one of the best hitters on the team.
Trent Grisham is predicted to sign with the Texas Rangers
In a recent article by NJ.com, Trent Grisham is predicted to sign with the Texas Rangers.
The Spotrac value projection for Grisham in 2026 is listed at $12.05 million.
Although he hit for a low average with New York, Grisham still had a highly productive year, hitting 34 home runs with an OPS of .811. What likely makes his value dip is that his defense took a step back this season.
NJ.com had this to say about Grisham's value:
"After batting below .200 for three years in a row, Grisham had a career season at the right time in 2025, his walk year. For much of the year, Grisham hit a bunch of homers batting leadoff. The Yankees rave about his center field play, but defensive metrics are not fans. His minus-2 rating in Baseball Savant’s Outs Above Average analytics ranked 36th among 41 qualifying center fielders."
He would be a good fit with the Rangers in a ballpark where he'd likely continue to succeed as a left-handed hitter, but if his evaluation is just above $12 million, the Yankees should also consider bringing him back on a two- to three-year contract.
