With the injuries the New York Yankees are currently dealing with on the mound, and the uncertainty around some veterans like Gerrit Cole due to a year without throwing a pitch in Major League Baseball, and Carlos Rodon also dealing with an injury, it’d make sense if the front office goes out and makes the necessary move to land another starter.

The Yankees' rotation can be very good when healthy, but adding another mid-tier to front-line guy would go a long way.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic recently proposed an intriguing idea for them to land one of the top starters in baseball, and perhaps one of the more underrated pitchers in the game. His trade pitch would move on from right-hander Will Warren and shortstop Jose Caballero for Freddy Peralta of the Milwaukee Brewers

“The Yankees could dangle right-handed starting pitcher Will Warren and shortstop Jose Caballero for Peralta, giving the Brewers two players to slot onto their major-league roster immediately.

“Warren would step right into the Brewers’ rotation, and they would control him for five more years. Warren, 26, was 9-8 last year for the Yankees with a 4.44 ERA in 162 1/3 innings with 171 strikeouts. Of course, Peralta is a No. 1-type starter and Warren is more of a mid-rotation arm, but mid-rotation starters with that much team control left can be a valuable part of roster building. Warren has a plus fastball and the Brewers have a history of getting the most out of their pitching talent,” he wrote.

Peralta only going for Warren and Caballero would be surprising.

It's fair to mention that Peralta is set to hit the free agency market after next season, but he's still an ace-caliber arm, and those typically go for a lot more than two average big league players.
